Sjoelbak, also known as Dutch Shuffleboard, is a popular board game from the Netherlands, played by both children, adults and seniors. The goal of the game is to be as accurate as possible and score as many points as possible. In Sjoelbak, you have to slide 15 wooden pucks into the pockets at the end of the game board. One player slides all 15 pucks, then their points are counted and then it's the next player's turn.
Each puck also has a different value (1-4 points). Another basic rule is that if you get one puck into each pocket, your score is doubled. That's why it's better to try to get an equal number of pucks into each gap than to try and get all of them in "4".
Example: 15 pucks
1-point pocket - 3 pucks
2-point pocket - 6 pucks
3-point pocket - 4 pucks
4-point pocket - 2 pucks = 55 points
How did we get this number?
The value of the combos is (1+2+3+4) x 2 = 20 points. There are 2 combos. 40 points.
Now let's add up how many points are left over from the combos.
1-point pocket, 3-2= 1 point
2-point pocket, 6-2= 4, but since it's a 2-point pocket, we multiply 4x2. 8 points
3-point pocket, 4-2= 2, but since it's a 3-point pocket, we multiply 2x3. 6 points
4- points in the pocket, 2-2= 0 points. Nothing left from this.
So 40+1+8+6= 55 points.
